‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: Another ‘Forgiving Rollins’ script tease
It may be a relatively quiet weekend in the world of TV news, but why not cap off this Sunday with a new script tease for “Law & Order: SVU”?
This latest slice of scoop comes courtesy of executive producer Warren Leight on Twitter (see HERE), and it focuses on what is going to be the focus for the January 7 return “Forgiving Rollins”: Deputy Chief Patton, and his history with Kelli Giddish’s character. His terrible actions were left as a cliffhanger, and now that we know what he is capable of, some of his other moves, including the rape kit backlog in Atlanta, are suddenly less surprising.
As for whether or not he can be brought down, a good percentage of it is going to depend on how active and committed Rollins is to speaking the truth, and doing her best to ensure that there are no further victims of what she went through. The fact that they have Harry Hamlin in the Patton role makes everything a little more compelling, mostly because he has the chops to pull this off, and he can play a great menacing character with dark secrets underneath the surface. (Also, we love him on “Mad Men” as Cutler.”)
The line within this script that stands out the most to us is Benson’s at the tail end, mostly because there is to this day something still awesome about watching Mariska Hargitay’s character share a casual greeting with someone she is trying to figure out and eventually take down.

8 days and counting. I keep having this bad feeling that things will not end well for Amanda Rollins(Kelli Giddish) Will She have to lie on the stand to cover up something She was involved with? Will that lie enable Chief Patton to go free? We already know that She won’t be in the following episode, but that doesn’t mean anything because SVU has only had all 6 of the main people in only 1 or 2 episodes so far this season. I don’t know what the problem is, and nobody else has written anything about it. Let’s hope that Chief Patton is convicted because although I’m sure Harry Hamlin would love to see the character continue, I don’t want to see him causing more problems for Amanda Rollins later, especially one that could lead to her demise. Law & Order doesn’t usually kill off its detectives, but I don’t know what to make of NBC anymore, so anything could happen. Kelli is the best thing about the show, and I hope to see her there for a long time to come.

There’s been a hint that Amanda Rollins was complicit in covering up a crime(that She will have to admit to) in order to put Chief Patton away. Wouldn’t it just be the icing on the cake if it had something to do with her sister?! the Sister that tried to frame her for murder, emptied out her apartment, etc. How much more hell has Det. Rollins been through(if my theory is correct)? Not having her on the next 2 episodes after “Forgiving Rollins” is awful enough for us. What horror will we find out on Wednesday? Let’s hope Kelli is getting paid for the season and not by the episodes that She appears in. That would show us all what a horror NBC is.
