Premium previews: ‘Black Sails’ season 2, ‘Penny Dreadful’ season 2

We are basically in the middle of what we like to call the dog days of TV programming. Other than maybe late May / early June, there is no other time of the year when there is so little in the way of new content to watch on TV.

With that in mind, why not take a look at two new promos right now, which should each get you a little bit excited in their own right for what is coming next year? Let’s begin with “Black Sails,” which is a show to us that we think has all of the elements to be one of the best on TV. It’s still trying to get a few of them together, but maybe season 2 will be its time!

The video specifically focuses here on the women that are among this show’s cast, and the variety of different roles that they play. Of course, remember this is Starz, so remember that when you check the clip out.

Now, let’s move over to another series in “Penny Dreadful” which also has some room to grow, and is similar in that both really deserve more viewers than they have. This video features Eva Green in the forefront, and we like to think of it as both significant for the fans, but also a nice introduction of sorts of viewers who may be catching the show for the first time.

While “Black Sails” will be setting off from the docks early next year, you will probably be waiting until the spring to see “Penny Dreadful.” Why? Showtime has another lineup in place for the winter months led by “Shameless.”
