‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: First details on Patti LuPone appearance

Law & Order: SVU logoAnytime you can get Patti LuPone to appear on your show, you are in a pretty good spot; after appearing on “American Horror Story: Coven” and season 3 of “Girls,” NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU” is one of the series lucky enough to have her now.

LuPone is going to be appearing in the January 14 episode entitled “Agent Provocateur,” and via the synopsis below, she is going to be playing a women who may be up to no good in order to keep a movie star protected after being suspected of rape:

“Fifteen year-old Madison Baker (guest star Madison Grace) sneaks out of her uncle’s home to meet breakout movie star Scott Russo (guest star Shiloh Fernandez), who invited her to a party via social media. Later that night, a patrolman finds her in an alley, sexually assaulted and barely alive. Sgt. Benson (Mariska Hargitay) suspects Russo and his manager, Lydia Lebasi (guest star LuPone), are covering up the crime when security footage from the party goes missing. When gossip site mogul Lenny Simmons (guest star John Pankow) airs the stolen footage, he refuses to give up the source material and ADA Barba (Raúl Esparza) takes him to court to find the truth.”

Clearly, there is going to be quite a bit going on is this episode, but it appears that the story regarding Rollins and her past in Atlanta may be over … at least for the time being. It has already been confirmed that Harry Hamlin will be returning in the winter premiere January 7, and she will have to face more of her history there head-on.
