‘The Good Wife’ actor Mike Colter lands Marvel’s Luke Cage role
Great news coming out today for all fans of Mike Colter: The actor, best known for playing the Lemond Bishop character on CBS’ “The Good Wife,” has landed the much-coveted role of Luke Cage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What does this mean? Officially, he will appear in multiple episodes of “AKA Jessica Jones,” the upcoming Netflix series that is going to star Krysten Ritter in the title role, a former superhero who becomes a private eye after suffering from PTSD. Following this, Colter will get his own standalone “Luke Cage” series at some point in the future.
In a statement confirming this casting, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb had the following to say:
“Fans have longed to see Luke Cage brought to life, and in Mike we’ve found the perfect actor … Viewers will get to meet Luke Cage in Marvel’s AKA Jessica Jones, and experience why he is such an important super hero in the Marvel mythos.”
For now, we have to say that we are almost more excited to see Cage and the Netflix shows based on the Marvel comics than some of the upcoming movies. Maybe it is that we like the castings that we have heard about, though another part of it may just be that we are excited to see more of the story on these shows than what we will have a chance to in a movie, given the limited run time you get in the theaters.
While “Luke Cage” is still more than a year off, we plan on having some further news as we get a little closer.
