‘Homeland’ season 5 spoilers: Showtime boss on future of Carrie, Quinn

See Carrie -Sunday night, “Homeland” came to a close for now with a finale episode that certainly divided the internet, and for a variety of different reasons. It did not have a huge, action-packed moment, and instead was more about some of the smaller and more personal moments … which could still have huge ramifications moving forward.

One of those big moments was Quinn admitting to Carrie that he has feelings for her, and then when Carrie would not give him an answer back, he eventually ended up getting on a plane for a dark mission, one without a specific end date … and one that could ultimately end with his death.

While the writers for the finale have been quiet since it aired, Showtime boss David Nevins told Entertainment Weekly a little of his perspective on how the show came to a close with this storyline:

“It’s unclear to me yet whether Carrie’s feelings for Quinn were momentary or deeper. And I don’t think the show is clear on that yet. Clearly, Quinn has had feelings for Carrie for a long time. I don’t want to speculate too much … my preference is that I’m not into the artificially elongated “will they or won’t they.” If you want to do it, go for it. Don’t be cute. My only preference is to try and remain unpredictable and avoid TV cliches.”

Nevins also added that showrunner Alex Gansa tends to take seasons one at a time, so for the time being, there is no definitive plan for what the fifth season will entail.
