‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: Official details on ‘Forgiving Rollins’
While you may not have a chance to see fully what lies ahead on “Law & Order: SVU” until Wednesday, January 7, we do come right now bearing some big news: The first official details from “Forgiving Rollins,” the episode that is going to air.
This is a story that is in some ways going to pick up immediately following the events of “Pattern Seventeen,” in particular with the shocker that Rollins was sexually assaulted by Charles Patton, who she worked with while in Atlanta. When he ends up coming to New York City, the wound is going to be completely reopened, and as a result of that, she will have to confront her demons fully.
NBC released the full synopsis for this episode late this week, and you can take a look at that below:
“Atlanta’s Deputy Chief Charles Patton (Hamlin) and his newest detective, Reese Taymor (guest star Dreama Walker) visit New York for a law enforcement conference. When Reese is found unconscious in her hotel bathroom, she cries rape at the scene but changes her story when Sgt. Benson (Mariska Hargitay) arrives. When Rollins uncovers a personal connection to the suspect, ADA Barba (Raúl Esparza) seeks her help in the courtroom and she’s forced to confront the demons of her past to stop a dangerous predator.”
To us, this seems to be a hefty opportunity for Kelli Giddish to really shine, and it is really just the latest one for her this season. She’s had a few great episodes in particular so far, and knowing this show, at least something emotionally, if nothing else, will surface from this case a ways down the road.

Once again, Kelli Giddish will show everyone why She is becoming the best thing about this show and why it is imperative that NBC come up with the money to pay her to stay. She made practically nothing her first four years on the show, and it’s time for NBC to make up for that. There’s no doubt that Amanda was raped once by Chief Patton. I’m sure it was a lot more often than that. I’m afraid that the extent of the emotional damage will be tremendous once She tries to testify in court that this happened. Even If Chief Patton is convicted(we can only hope) this will probably not heal Amanda. it may only cause things to get worse. We may find out that she taken advantage of by many of other police officers in Atlanta because of her insecurities and her addictions to gambling and alcohol. It may be impossible for her to ever have a lasting relationship because She won’t know if She can really trust the other person. 17 days until the next episode.
