‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Amy Adams, One Direction prepare for laughs

SNL -The winter finale of “Saturday Night Live” is traditionally a special one. You have holiday-themed sketches, surprise cameos, and typically a popular musical guest.

This is what we have from this weekend’s episode, which features One Direction performing while Amy Adams serves as the host for the third time. We know that she is more than capable of rocking out this show, and her comedic presence is also still underrated. “Enchanted” is basically one of our cheesy-movie guilty pleasures.

As for the boys, we would not be shocked if some of them appeared in sketches tonight, as well. If nothing else, they are extremely popular with teens and young adults, and with school and college over for the year, many of them may be watching tonight. We just hope that if they are used in something other than a performance, it feels natural and not just shoved in there to get headlines.

Beyond the host and musical guest, we are hoping for maybe a few surprises from former cast members. We know it is incredibly unlikely, but how great would it be to see “I Wish It Were Christmas Today” return? Unfortunately, Tracy Morgan is probably not far enough in his recovery. (When he is, we’d love to have him come back and host a full show.)

Above all, let’s just hope for a few extremely memorable sketches. Last week with Martin Freeman started really strong, but then fizzled out completely at the end with bad sketch after bad sketch.
