‘Downton Abbey’ season 5 Christmas Special spoilers: Michelle Dockery’s Mary prepares
Christmas is a wonderful time of the year for many, and it is also a time when children take the spotlight. After all, what better time to show them that there can be a sense of magic and wonder in the world? (Spoilers ahead for Americans!)
Well, you can see this for a certain George in the photo attached here from the “Downton Abbey” Christmas Special, as the youngster takes part in the tradition of tree-decorating with his mother Mary (Michelle Dockery). It is nice to see that she has turned things around when it comes to being a more active parent, given her depression in season 4. Heck, there were also times in season 5 we wondered what she was doing since so much of it was spent with a romantic subplot.
Ultimately, we do wonder now what in the world the show has in store for Mary moving forward. We know that during this episode, she is going to visit Anna in prison, but we have already learned that she has basically now power when it comes to trying to get her freed from prison. We feel like it would be nice to have an episode for her where the emphasis was not so much on whether or not she finds love, but instead what her present place is in this world and this society.
Obviously, our coverage of the Christmas Special is far from over, and we will have some further news pertaining to the show soon.
