‘Survivor: Worlds Apart’ announced as season 30 during ‘Survivor: San Juan del Sur’ reunion
Tonight, CBS aired the “Survivor: San Juan del Sur” finale, and it was every bit of eventful as you would have thought. Still, the question about season 30 was out there, and it was finally revealed with “Survivor: Worlds Apart” near the end of the episode.
First of all, we really like the title, and as we predicted, it is not alluding at all to the setting of Nicaragua. Instead, it is a reference to the twist: Dividing tribes up in groups based on some sort of designation. Maybe it’s different walks of life, jobs, education, or money.
It is going to be hard to really figure out how this season is going to go, but we like the idea of a White Collar vs. Blue Collar vs. No Collar. The “No Collars” are the tribe that is the most ambiguous, since we don’t really know what qualifies as this.
It’s not the first time the show has divided things up by a demographic. For example, “Survivor: Cagayan” had the whole brains vs. beauty vs. brawn thing going on, and “Survivor: Cook Islands” did the controversial move where race was the dividing line.
More than anything else, though, we are really excited to see what happens come Wednesday, February 25 when the show premieres. We just know that we like the three tribe format, and we like the idea of giving castaways a reason to unify, but then seeing what happens if they don’t. It’s a social experiment, and without loved ones, hopefully it also means less tears.

What tidbits that was shown, looks like a tropical location again with a lot of bamboo, so it may be South East Asia or Philippines. Should be interesting as I am a blue collar worker!
