‘The X Factor’ UK final: Blonde Electra kiss during group performance

Well, that happened. It only took a few minutes on tonight’s “X Factor” UK final for something strange to take place, and it came courtesy of Louis Walsh’s bizarre duo Blonde Electra. They were the first group eliminated in the competition, and many were surprised that they made the top 16 in the first place.

Well, we definitely have to say that they tried to make the most of their opportunity on TV, didn’t they? During the entire opening number set to the classic “Flashdance… What a Feeling!”, these two sisters decided to spend as much time locking lips on stage as they did singing.

If the entire goal here was to get attention, we suppose that they succeeded with that. After all, we would not be writing about them right now otherwise. Their entire act is based mostly on spectacle, so you cannot be too shocked that this happened. After it did, nobody else really mentioned it on the air.

Will this be something that is remembered a few years from now? Probably not, but this is something that will be one of those weird, wacky moments that we saw over the season. Put this one in the same category as the guy who jumped up on stage during the Stereo Kicks performance. It was just something unplanned that was clearly devised for attention.

There really is no way to stop things like this. Obviously, it is part of the unpredictability that goes with having a live show, and now we’re curious to see how many people file complaints. British viewers, we’ve learned, will file complaints over all sorts of random stuff.
