‘The X Factor’ UK final: Mel B will officially appear, released from hospital

The judges -For those of you who missed Mel B on the first part of the “X Factor” final last night, there’s some good news coming in today: You will for certain see the Spice Girl / judge on the show tonight.

In a statement, the network ITV confirmed this morning that Mel is healthy enough to appear on the show, having been released from the hospital: “Mel B will be back on the panel for tonight’s Final. After being discharged from hospital and following medical advice Mel has been deemed well enough to be on the show. We’re delighted to have her back.”

Mel’s appearance should be great, but it is also not going to bring back her act this season in Andrea Faustini. The Italian vocalist was eliminated last night, with Tulisa serving as a stand-in for him while Mel was off in the hospital. It was pretty touch-and-go until the last minute today in terms of whether or not she would be healthy enough to compete.

This finale is going to be a massive two-hour affair, even if it probably does not really need to be. It will include repeat performances from some of the eliminated acts, montages, reflections on the season, and probably a few little announcements here and there. If Louis Walsh decides that he wants to step down as a judge after so many seasons, maybe he could also have some sort of farewell package.

Eventually, there will be results, but they will probably be saved for close to 10:00 p.m. local time. We have no idea why this needs to be as long as it is, but given that this show does well in the ratings, ITV probably wants to milk it.
