‘Hart of Dixie’ season 4 spoilers: Show boss hopes to make many more seasons

Zoe -Long before we even knew the season 4 premiere date for “Hart of Dixie,” there was a ton of controversy revolving around on particular subject: Whether or not we were going to be seeing the end of the road for Zoe Hart and company soon.

At the end of filming for this season, the majority of the cast acted as though it was the final season for the show, but Scott Porter and Wilson Bethel specifically came out and said that they were just preparing themselves in the event that it was the end.

As show creator Leila Gerstein tells E! News, there is definitely a desire to make many more seasons of the Rachel Bilson series, but ultimately, much of it will come down to what the network wants:

“Well, I can’t speak to that, as the decision to renew or cancel is out of my hands … I can tell the fans that this season is for you and you’re going to love this season. No one is going to feel unsatisfied by the end. Obviously we hope for many, many more seasons but everyone will be happy with this season.”

It is still possible for this show to have some sort of a future, but we have to be honest here in saying that all of the signs are pointing to it having a slightly trickier time. It has not been a huge ratings warrior in the past season or two, and numbers across most of the network have improved this year. With the Golden Globe nomination for “Jane the Virgin,” it’s not going anywhere, and “Reign” is therefore the only show currently on the network that is in danger of getting the ax. We’ll have to see how “Hart of Dixie,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and some new shows fare.
