‘The Mentalist’ season 7, episode 3 video: A new scene with Wylie, Vega

For most of the episode of “The Mentalist” Sunday night, we imagine that we are going to focus on the Jane and Lisbon characters as they find themselves facing off against a familiar adversary: Erica Flynn. The two will be overseas, and yet again, Morena Baccarin’s character is not exactly going to be a pushover.

So what is coming up away from that? The new sneak peek video below should serve as a clue. In this peek, Wylie gives Vega some interesting information regarding a case that could allow her to team up with Cho. The twist here? She is not really getting full permission from Abbott beforehand.

One of the funny things about this particular preview is mostly how this is not even remotely a scene that could have happened years ago on “The Mentalist.” After all, just remember here that you have so many different characters now, and also a completely different setting. Honestly, we are not even sure just yet what to make about these characters just yet; we liked Wylie enough when we saw him last season, but will this series-regular promotion appear to be worth it?

For some reason, there is a part of us that just thinks of Vega right now as FBI’s Amy Santiago, to use a “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” reference.
