‘Gracepoint’ season 2: Would you have wanted to see it?

Gracepoint -Tonight, “Gracepoint” came to a close on Fox, and it did so with an episode that can certainly be described as devastating. We don’t know what other interpretation there can be for a story that saw one of its main characters in Ellie learn that her family were the key players in the murder of Danny.

Now, everyone is left to pick up the pieces, however hard that is going to be, and we’re left to wonder if there could have ever been a future for this show on Fox. The ratings were not good for the show, and it’s hard to say that Fox is making the wrong move by declaring tonight the series finale. After all, you also have to remember here that this was always the original plan, and there were never really any talks about making this anything more than a limited series.

With that being said, was the idea of this completely impossible? We don’t think so. “Under the Dome” and “Resurrection” are two examples of shows that could have ended after one season, but were so successful that they were brought back for more. Ironically, some could claim that creatively, both would have been better off to call things a day after a single year on the air. If this show was getting “Gotham” ratings, we’re pretty sure that the network would at least think about it.

A great argument that the fans of the show can forever make here is that “Broadchurch,” the show on which this is based, lives on … and there was a little cliffhanger-of-sorts with Carver at the end about whether or not Tom’s entire story was straight. Unfortunately, this does will not continue. It’s interesting to speculate on the future, but it’s not going to happen.
