‘Shark Tank’ preview: Hoppy Paws, Eve Drop, Q-Flex, Mensch on a Bench, Hanukkah Tree Topper

Shark Tank CastFriday night, “Shark Tank” is getting into the holiday spirit with a new episode that is themed almost entirely around the holidays, though with one random product that serves as an exception to the rule.

There are two Christmas products and one Hanukkah one included in this episode, and also an update on a product that actually celebrates both. Want to know more? Let the synopsis below be your guide:

“A mother from Corona del Mar, CA turned a family tradition into a business with a stamping kit proving Santa Claus really did visit your home, a former toy executive from Cincinnati, OH hopes his book and plush toy will become part of the Jewish holiday tradition; a salesman from Henderson, NV has an easier way to move Christmas lights from the storage to display mode, and a 13-year-old girl from San Luis Obispo, CA impresses the Sharks with her presentation of a flexible device that eases muscle pain. Also, an update on Morri Chowaiki from San Diego, CA and his Hanukkah Tree Topper designed forinterfaith families to celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas, which Daymond John invested in during Season 5.”

Now for some quick judgments on some of the products. Update: Click here to read our review!

Hoppy Paws – A cute idea to have that effect of having reindeer trotting through your living room. It’s cute, and the product seems to work very well and is very easy to clean up. Probably the biggest upside here is that it doesn’t have to be for just Christmas, and the company seems to be preparing to sell some for Easter and other holidays. At other $10, the price is perfect, as well.

Mensch on a Bench – Yep, this is a thing! It’s basically the Hanukkah version of “Elf on a Shelf.” The idea and the character seems to be in the right place, but this is a very risky investment. This is a pure commodity, and something for entertainment. It all comes down to whether or not the story is good and if there are already sales, and we cannot judge that based on what is online.

Q-Flex Acupuncture – To be honest, we’re already worried about this business. Maybe their self-serving acupuncture device works well and the product is affordable enough (under $30), but it took a long time to find it online and there is a limited social-media strategy. We worry for them that even with this show, it may be hard for consumers to find them. Also, there’s randomly no Christmas theme here.

Eve Drop – This is a Christmas lights hanging system that basically keeps you from having to go through most of the legwork of hanging lights. With that alone in mind, we imagine that there will be some interest out there. Given how big of a pain hanging lights can be, plus the relatively low cost here, we could see a deal getting made.
