‘The Colbert Report’ to feature Seth Rogen (and the Grim Reaper?) on final shows

Highlights -We know already that “The Colbert Report” is going to sign off a week from tonight, but now, we’ve got a few other interesting details … including that Stephen Colbert may choose to kill off his self-created character in grand fashion at the end of the next show.

Comedy Central announced the final week of guests today, and the list reads basically as follows.

Monday – Seth Rogen. This seems to be standard promotion for Rogen’s film “The Interview,” which has already sparked a whole lot of controversy over the past few weeks. Who knows just how crazy things are going to get with it now?

Tuesday – Rapper Kendrick Lamar. An interesting choice, but who knows? Maybe he and Stephen come up with a really interesting video spoof of something.

Wednesday – National Book Award winner Phil Klay. If nothing else, Stephen is certainly keeping things diverse with people from all sorts of professions.

Thursday – Colbert’s  “colleague and lifelong friend,” who goes by the name of “Grimmy.” It is really hard to read this as anyone other than the Grim Reaper, at least from this vantage point. We certainly expect this to be interesting, and maybe worthy of a few laughs here and there, as well.

One of the benefits for Colbert to killing off his “Colbert” character could be that it would further allow him to make the transition to himself as the host of “The Late Show.” One other thing that will help? Time. We learned this week that it is likely going to be late summer at the earliest before he takes the reigns to that show on CBS.
