‘The Flash’ spoilers: Andy Mientus talks playing Pied Piper

There are many interesting storylines on the docket for “The Flash” moving forward, but we feel like one that is definitely getting a whole lot of attention at the moment is the arrival of Pied Piper. This character, played by Andy Mientus, is know for not just being awesome. He also happens to be the first openly-gay villain that we’ve seen within this universe.

Obviously, there are some expectations and even pressure when it comes to taking on this sort of part, but it seems like in the end, Mientus seems to be more than prepared to take this task on. Speaking on the subject in an interview with Variety, he had the following to say:

“With the gay thing, I feel like I’m representing a whole community … People are excited to see this character, so it is a lot of pressure. But I’m glad they are introducing the character to the show. It’s a huge step forward, and I’m thrilled to help make that happen. It’s awesome.”

One thing that are also interested in finding out is if there could be some tie between the Pied Piper and Captain Singh, given that the two have a history in the comments. We asked Patrick Sabongui, who plays the Captain, about this subject when we spoke to him earlier this year. His reply? That he was just as excited as we were to find out where this story goes. (We learned recently that it seems like Singh has a boyfriend at home already, one who wants him to eat right.)
