‘The Newsroom’ series finale: Olivia Munn prepares for future with development deal
While Sunday night may mark the series finale for “The Newsroom” on HBO, it is pretty clear at the moment that for Olivia Munn, her level of overall ambition far exceeds beyond just one single drama series.
According to Deadline, the actress and former “Attack of the Show!” co-host has signed a development deal with CBS Television Studios, and could work on new potential projects with them moving forward. It’s possible that one of them could star her, but that is not necessarily a given.
In a statement confirming the news, Munn passed along the following message:
“I’m excited to have found a common vision with CBS Television Studios and their executives and looking forward to developing exciting and creative new shows … This is a dream come true.”
Munn has gravitated towards doing a number of different movies in the near future, and will be seen next in the sequel to “Ride Along.”
So where do we see the journey ending for her “Newsroom” character of Sloan Sabbath? Mostly, we just feel like it will be a place where she gets a chance to continue doing some of what she loves, but also having a relationship and a personal life to go with that. The fact that she can do both of these without reconciling who she is would be a testament to the growth of her character, who in the early days was extremely successful, but at the same time very stunted socially and due to this, often struggled to find someone.
