Ratings: ‘Cristela,’ ‘Grimm,’ and ‘Constantine’ fall to lows; ‘Amazing Race’ up

NBC -Last night was truly a case of good news and bad news when it comes to the ratings for some of your favorite shows … but mostly bad. After all, we are starting to see NBC’s lineup of genre shows crumble.

We begin here with “Grimm,” which has been slowly losing a little bit of its audience over the course of the past several years. Last night, the viewership slipped down to a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is not good. For a long time, we have been able to justify the lower “Grimm” numbers mostly by reminding ourselves that this is a show that is on Friday nights, and expectations are therefore lower.

As for “Constantine,” the news was even worse. With a 0.8 rating in the demo, we feel pretty okay with saying that this show is probably going to be treading water for a while, at least until it eventually reaches a cancellation point. It already has seen its episode order cut off at 13, and it’s a shame since we like the DC property. It may just not be well-known enough to work at NBC, and the timeslot also hurts. This rating over at The CW, for example, would probably be enough to keep it alive. Not only that, but we don’t even think that the ratings would be any different.

Also, last night saw a new series low for “Cristela” (0.9), and the good news is mostly that “The Amazing Race” (1.2) recovered slightly from its most-recent outing in scoring a slightly better number than it has in the past.
