CBS, Dish Network reach deal; ‘The Mentalist,’ ‘CSI,’ other shows will air

CBS -Great news for all Dish Network customers waiting to see if they would be getting back CBS shows over the course of the weekend: The issue has already been resolved.

The broadcast giant and most-watched network on all TV has reached a multi-year agreement with the satellite provider, and all programming and affiliates have already been restored to the air. This is great news for everyone who was wondering if they were going to be going without some of their favorite shows for an extended period of time, and it is also great news for fans of NFL football. There are some games that will be happening over the weekend, just as there is also new episodes of “The Mentalist” and “CSI” coming on the air.

One other important component of this is that there is a change to the controversial AutoHop feature that is in most Hopper DVR devices. For the first seven days after a program airs, you will not be able to have this device automatically skip commercials on CBS stations. Instead, you’ll have to do it yourself. Sure, it’s an inconvenience for some customers, but at the same time these advertisements are the reason why you are able to get CBS programming in the first place. The only alternative is that you start paying out more money for it, and not a whole lot of people will be happy with that.

This is a nice change of pace for Dish Network, especially when you remember just how long it took them to get AMC back on the air after there was that fiasco in the past.
