‘Community’ season 6 spoilers: First look at Paget Brewster, Keith
Are you ready and excited to see more of “Community”? Well, the fine folks over at Yahoo Screen seem to be both ready and willing to give you that opportunity. The sixth season of the show is coming next year, and we have some further news right now about some of the show’s new additions.
As we reported previously, former “Criminal Minds” star Paget Brewster is one of the new major stars, and will be playing Frankie Dart, a consultant who is brought in to help make Greendale a better place. With that in mind, it should not come as a shock that she quickly gets into it with Dean Pelton, the master of continuing to make Greendale a terrible place for an education.
So why bring this particular character into the fold right now? As creator Dan Harmon tells TV Guide, much of the reason behind it is getting someone to appear who can really shake things up in an interesting way:
“We wanted to have a female character that represented the threat of disappointment … Someone who, if you make the wrong move, you could let them down.”
Meanwhile, Keith David is coming on Elroy, an older inventor who is at the school trying to get a new lease on life. As Harmon says, there may be comparisons here between him and the characters previously played by Chevy Chase and Jonathan Banks:
“We needed someone of this age range because the human experience comes in stages.”
These characters were very much needed given the latest round of cast turnover. In addition to losing Banks, Yvette Nicole Brown stepped down from her position for a family matter, and we are probably not going to see much more of John Oliver due to his duties hosting “Last Week Tonight” over on HBO. There’s no word on if we are ever seeing Donald Glover again as Troy, either.
