‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: James Franco, Cecily Strong, and silliness

This weekend, another new episode of “Saturday Night Live” is coming on the air, and this one with James Franco and musical guest Nicki Minaj seems for some reason to be almost under the radar. We’re not quite sure why that is, other than that James has not necessarily had a hit movie recently, and his reputation is just that of an offbeat guy in the first place.

As for the promos highlighting this upcoming episode, what it really does above all else is remind us is that Franco loves to be silly. He and Cecily Strong go for laughs, and for the most part, we will say that he succeeds. We at least give the guy some credit for going with it, but there is still one other big question: What’s with the hair? Maybe it is for some upcoming movie role that he has, but he honestly does not even look much like James Franco anymore. It may seem rather petty, but it’s still on our mind.

Also, there is a random cameo in here at one point by a former “30 Rock” cast member. We don’t want to say who it is, but we will just go ahead and say that it is someone who will make you smile.

We’ll have to wait until the weekend to see if this episode as a whole gives us the same reaction, but Cecily has a lot in particular to be happy about right now. After all, she has a gig coming up this weekend at the White House Correspondents Dinner.
