‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: Prepare to meet Amaro’s sister

While there may not be a new episode of “Law & Order: SVU” airing on NBC tonight, we are still very much pleased to come on here with some potential casting news that could impact one character in particular very closely.

According to TVLine, the producers of the show are currently in the process of trying to cast for the show the sister of Amaro (Danny Pino), whose name is Sonya. She is described as being a “sassy” and streetwise former party girl. It’s not entirely clear what the context of her appearance will be, but that is part of the intrigue right now. This is not a show that just chooses to bring in new characters without a rhyme or reason, especially the family of people we have come to know very well over the years.

So far this season, there has already been a variety of big storylines for Amaro. For example, the man had to work his way back onto the Special Victims Unit after landing in hot water for his actions at the end of last season. Also, there is that whole secret relationship with Rollins (Kelli Giddish), and the two had a particularly shocking scene on this past episode that involved alcohol, and her intentionally trying to get him a little bit riled up.

Given the timing of this announcement, we figure that this will probably be for a story airing next year. We’ll have some further announcements about this as they come up.
