‘The Mentalist’ season 7, episode 2 preview: Jane gives Lisbon … prison advice?

If there is one person who thinks that they have the answers to everything, it is Patrick Jane. Therefore, can we really be that surprised that he wants to offer Lisbon advice on how to be the best possible prisoner?

This is the subject of the sneak peek below (via “Ellen”) from Sunday night’s “The Mentalist,” which is going to in part have a very “Orange Is the New Black” sort of feel to it. After all, Robin Tunney’s character is going to find herself behind bars in order to solve a case, and being a good boyfriend, there is a major amount of concern that is there for her.

Lisbon tries to assure Jane that she is going to be fine, and we feel like for the most part, she will be. She’s more than skilled enough to handle this situation. The thing you have to remember in the process here is that this is “The Mentalist,” and if there is one thing that we have come to learn about Jane over time, it is that he is not exactly a guy who is really all that excellent at letting things go without him being able to have a role in them. We expect him to find a way to get involved here by the end of the episode.

Here is the fun thing about this, though, for those curious as to how this episode could shape Jane and Lisbon’s relationship. Trust is a very important part of how a couple goes about their daily lives, and this is something that Patrick is going to have to allow for now. Sometimes, that means not trying to interfere in a case.
