‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2, episode 9 review: Mac’s fate; Ward’s move

Agents of SHIELD -Tonight, Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” aired an episode that was certainly stuffed full of shocking moments, but we have to begin here with this: A sort-of-death that really sets the stage for the rest of the season.

Is Mac gone for good? We don’t know how to answer that, but we did see tonight what happens when his mind ultimately falls into the wrong hands. His fight scene with Simmons, Bobbi, and many of the other characters was all sorts of intense, but it did at the same time give you another great reason to love the show for even going there with these characters.

The consequences of this showdown with Hydra were much more severe than just this, though: Skye is gearing up for a terrible reunion with her father, and Ward is back being basically the same-old traitor, who is plotting something with Whitehall.

The tough thing about this episode is mostly just that it really did not tie together much of anything when it comes to this story, but can you really be surprised? There’s another episode this fall! That is where you will find out more about the Kree, about Skye’s role in all of this chaos, and if there will be any more loss of life.

For the time being, we’ll at least say that this episode did a very good job of getting us excited for what will be coming up around the bend. Grade: B.
