‘Downton Abbey’ season 6: Allen Leech’s future gets all the more complicated
For the past couple of weeks, we’ve reported a little bit about just what could be an interesting situation to watch with “Downton Abbey” and Allen Leech’s future on the show. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)
From what we know right now, it doesn’t look like this is a situation where Leech wants out or anything like that; however, the season finale that aired on ITV earlier this year did suggest that his character of Tom Branson may opt to leave for American in an effort to start a new life with his daughter. This is a thread that will be discussed further on the upcoming Christmas Special.
Well, the new report that we have for you today makes so much of what lies ahead for Leech all the more interesting. Per Deadline, he has been cast in the upcoming movie “Hunter’s Prayer,” which is also going to star Sam Worthington and Odeya Rush. There’s no word that this will conflict with the series’ filming schedule at all, and there’s no reason to believe that his time on the show is automatically over. After all, he recently did “The Imitation Game” alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and others.
The one thing to watch out for here is that Allen, like so many other actors on the show, has the potential to do more and more movies. This could eventually lead to an offer that he may not be able to turn away.
Then again, there is also a part of us that wants “Downton Abbey” to end next season, that way it could go out on a high note.
