‘Downton Abbey’ season 5 Christmas Special spoilers: A nice Hugh Bonneville tease
Is there a reason to be worried about someone dying on the upcoming “Downton Abbey” season 5 Christmas Special? Based on what we are hearing right now, it seems as though we may be able to breathe a little easier … at least for the time being.
Speaking in a new interview on “The Graham Norton Show” this weekend (per the Radio Times), series star Hugh Bonneville claims that while watching the special, “You’ll have a lump in your throat, but in a very nice way.”
This to us suggests that we could be in for a pretty nice period of entertainment, which could not make us happier in the end. After all, the one thing that we have learned over time is that this show is not necessarily invested in making our Christmas merry. People are still fuming over the fact that Dan Stevens’ Matthew was killed off two seasons ago, and in all honesty, the last Christmas Special lulled us to sleep for the majority of the run time. There just wasn’t a whole lot that happened in there!
There are some big stories that will need to be addressed in the special this time, whether you are talking about the potential exit of Lady Rose (Lily James) from the show, what the future holds for Tom Branson (Allen Leech) and Daisy (Sophie McShera), and the current state of things for Anna and Bates. The last we saw this couple, Joanne Froggatt’s character was in very bad shape, and Brendan Coyle’s was figuring out what to do.
