NBC’s ‘The Voice’ winner Javier Colon performs National Anthem for 49ers Thanksgiving game

Javier Colon -Throughout the course of the past 24 hours, we have had quite a few opportunities to sit here around here and discuss National Anthems. It may be a bizarre thing to do in many ways, but that is precisely what we’ve had courtesy of all the NFL coverage today, where notable names familiar to TV audiences have been booked to do these songs justice.

So what happened during the San Francisco 49ers game today? Basically, we had more of this trend, as the anthem was performed by none other than Javier Colon. Those who watched the first season of “The Voice” know him as the winner of that season, though he has fallen off of the radar over the past few years.

Still, when it comes to just sheer ability alone, we have to give Javier some credit here: He completely killed this. It had almost everything that you would have wanted to hear and then some, including some big notes and a nice little guitar undercurrent throughout the song. He made it feel traditional enough to be important, but also added just enough artistry in here for it to also stand out in the end.

While Javier is getting a chance to shine on this stage, there are currently many other contestants all still competing on this season of “The Voice,” including many under the mentor who helped to win him the show in Adam Levine.

Earlier today, another NBC reality show alum in Quintavious Johnson performed the anthem at the Detroit Lions game.

What did you think about this particular anthem, and how it was in comparison to many of the others that you have heard throughout the day?
