‘NCIS’ season 12, episode 9 preview: Emily Wickersham lays groundwork for ‘Grounded’

Tomorrow night, CBS is going to be unveiling the latest “NCIS” episode entitled “Grounded,” and we know already that this is going to be a particularly big story for a number of different reasons. Not only are we going to get a chance to see Bishop’s husband Jake (Jamie Bamber) for the first time, but also a story that puts these two along with Tony (Michael Weatherly) in a very different place than what they are accustomed to.

This episode was probably exciting to film for Emily Wickersham, given that this is the first time in a year that we have really gotten a chance to see this full side of her fully. Speaking to TVLine about what to expect moving forward, she laid the groundwork for the story pretty quickly:

“D.C. is having a very cold, snowy Thanksgiving, and Jake and I are off to Turks and Caicos for a much-needed vacation when we find out that all these delays are happening. Then, after we run into Tony (Michael Weatherly) at the airport and the guys get to meet, we find out that there is some chatter about a possible situation involving a terrorist, so we kind of spend the entire episode in the airport.”

Are we excited to see where the rest of the season goes? Certainly, but we have to take things here a week at a time. This episode could be a really fun change of pace compared some of the super-serious Gibbs stories lately, and we hope that the show does allow for a few lighter moments in here to keep things fairly fresh.
