‘Longmire’ season 4 official, coming to Netflix in 2015

Longmire -We had a good feeling that there was going to be some news coming today when it comes to “Longmire” based on a Twitter message from series star Katee Sackhoff. With that being said, we’re glad to report that the news is finally official: A fourth season is coming to Netflix at some point in 2015.

Based on our knowledge, production for this season is going to begin at some point in March, and while there is no premiere date just yet, our guess would be that the episodes would arrive at some point near the end of the year. It is a little hard to give the show the same premiere date as it had on A&E, given that Netflix likes to unleash all of its new episodes at once.

This fourth season will comprise of ten episodes, and the press release today made it fairly open-ended as to what the show’s future could be beyond that. Here was the official logline that went along with it, for those relatively new to the series:

“Season four of Longmire picks up moments after season three’s exciting finale. Walt Longmire (series star Robert Taylor), having found out who was behind the murder of his wife, succumbs to his darker impulses and takes off in pursuit of the killer with murder on his mind. Meanwhile, Branch Connally (Bailey Chase), the deputy who Walt fired for erratic, violent behavior, believes he has already figured out who the real culprit is. But during his confrontation with this suspected killer, a gun goes off. Now the audience will finally learn what happened, and whether Walt can be stopped before he makes a fatal choice.”

In a statement included in the release, the show’s producers also said the following:

“We’re excited and honored to have the opportunity to bring this show that we love so much, and all its devoted fans, to Netflix.”

This is of course wonderful news, and our congratulations go out especially to all of the people fighting so hard on social media the past few months to make this into a reality. It was one of the best campaigns to save a show we’ve ever seen, and hopefully the show does well enough to convince Netflix that there is life here beyond just season 4.
