‘Dancing with the Stars’ 19: Alfonso Ribeiro may be forced to quit over back injury
The injury bug may be striking again on “Dancing with the Stars,” and this time, it may be serious enough to force a potential favorite in Alfonso Ribeiro to quit the competition.
According to an insider over at Gossip Cop, there is a chance that the former “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” star may not be able to continue dancing due to a back injury that he may have received while trying to overcompensate for an injury that he already had in his groin area. According to the insider, he is having a difficult time walking, let alone dancing, and missed rehearsals on Thursday for the show.
Are we still hopeful that he will find a way to get out on the stage? Sure, if for no other reason than that we’ve been down this road many times before. Reports tend to come out over the weekend that the dancer is struggling, and may not be able to perform on Monday; however, we’d say that a good 90% of the time, the person ends up being able to give it a go. Most of the performers are nursing injuries at this point in the competition, and unless they are so severe that they could impact life after the show, most continue to go with it.
For Alfonso’s sake, we hope he can keep going, given that he is really the only male dancer this season to look like a consistent threat to be around for the finale. His Carlton revival (see below) is the most-popular dance of the entire season by our estimation, and this show could do big things for his career.
We’ll have some further updates on the subject over the weekend, so be sure to check back at some point for some further updates. Also, sign up to get even more scoop on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo via ABC.)
