‘Community’ season 6: Dan Harmon gets even more creative, prepares new book
Dan Harmon is already one of the most notorious showrunners out there. After all, he is the architect behind “Community,” which is very much one of the biggest cult phenomenons on TV over the course of the past several years.
While “Community” season 6 will premiere on Yahoo Screen at some point next year, we can tell you for now that Harmon is diving back into a different world for the time being: Author. Per a new report from Entertainment Weekly, Harmon is set to publish a book of essays under Doubleday in 2016 that will contain a variety of essays, riffs, and other fun things. Dan obviously got his start as a brilliant comedy writer, and this book deal is mostly an extension of that more than it is anything else.
Harmon is no complete stranger to writing, having already published a book that was based mostly on some of his blog entries. However, these essays are ones that are originally intended for publication.
Away from “Community,” Harmon has built a reputation recently thanks to his work on the Adult Swim series “Rick and Morty.” Not only that, but he also hosts a Harmontown live show and podcast.
Ultimately, we have no doubt that this book will be very funny, and probably also a little controversial in spots. If Harmon did something that wasn’t controversial in a way, we would probably be worried when the dust settles.
Stay tuned; we’ll have some more news both on this and the return of “Community” when the news is first announced.
