ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 8 reaction: Guillermo Diaz on Huck’s Javi surprise

Tonight, “Scandal” had an episode that was stuffed full of surprises, but one of the biggest ones came via the Huck storyline. The former B613 agent / current Gladiator discovered that his own son Javi learned the truth about who he really is, and that’s not something that any kid his age probably should know.

With this in mind, though, Huck’s work has become so much harder. There’s someone else he must protect, and while he has to do a job, he also remains intent on finding a way to solve the problems with his long-estranged family. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in a new interview, the excellent Guillermo Diaz tries to make it clear just what his character may be dealing with at the moment in this super-crazy time:

“The thought of losing them completely again is probably frightening for him … I think he really would try anything to have his son in his life and be able to be in Kim’s life. More than anything, Huck wants to be a father to Javi and be in his life, but I don’t know if he knows how. I think he’s willing to go through the process and learn the things he needs to do and the things he needs to possibly change in his life to be able to be in his kid’s life.”

Maybe we will see a little bit of movement in this story before the second part of the season airs, but in all honesty, this is something that could take a while to figure itself out.
