ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 8 review: Did Olivia, Fitz, and Jake team up to kill Rowan?
Before it goes off the air for a little while, “Scandal” clearly has quite a few loose ends that it needs to tie up. They have the story of Command, Olivia’s personal life, Elizabeth North, Huck’s family, and so much more.
It is fair to say that not all was exactly resolved on Thursday night’s “The Last Supper.” The title here alone is a reference to the attempt by Olivia to set up Rowan with an invitation for a private dinner, trying to use her emotions to set him up. This is one of the few blind spots that the man really has.
For a few moments, it felt like Olivia and company were finally going to get the upper hand … but that is before you remembered just how evil and calculating Rowan really is. He is a step ahead of her, and he used it to take down her entire plan. It folded like a house of cards, and now Olivia is the one worried for her own life.
So what about the rest of the story? Well, we are learning that Elizabeth North’s various secrets could be coming back to bite her, and that Huck is at least trying to be a good father now. He just doesn’t quite know how to do it, which makes sense when you spend as much time as he did trapped in a whole.
“Scandal” has become a runaway freight train at this point, and we’re really only left to wonder if it is going to crash at any moment. “The Last Supper” was sensational, and anchored by one of the greatest performances Joe Morton has ever brought to the table … and that is saying something. Grade: A-.
