‘Longmire’ season 4 may happen on Netflix; ‘deep negotiations’ underway
While we do not necessarily have full confirmation right now that “Longmire” is coming back, we do have a very good reason to have a little more hope.
According to Deadline, the show’s studio in Warner Horizon is currently in deep discussions with Netflix on picking up the canceled A&E show for a fourth season. There have been some snags throughout the process, but both parties are seemingly looking to make this happen.
In the event that the Netflix deal does go through, production on the fourth season would start in March. This is good news that the show could have new episodes streaming at some point in 2015, but ultimately the decision on an airdate would be up to Netflix. They choose their launch dates a little bit differently than most major networks.
One final reason to have hope here is simply due to history. Netflix already has provided a home to many other canceled shows, with at the top of the list being “Arrested Development” and “The Killing” after their cancellations. “Longmire” already showed itself to have a solid viewership, and they don’t really care so much about how old their viewers are, which is what it really should be these days given the changes in who has disposable income.
The cast is still under contract until February, and while we hope that there is very good news before the holidays, there is still plenty of time. The fact that a report is coming out now, though, should be a signal that things are much closer than they have been at any point in the process.
