‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6, episode 7 review: Did Damon and Elena, Caroline and Stefan fix anything?
If there was a singular theme that was front and center throughout Thursday night’s new episode of “The Vampire Diaries,” it was trying to do everything possible to repair relationships. Sometimes, this meant friendships that could have been relationships. Other times, it was a relationship that burned brighter than any other one.
Specifically, we’re talking about the latter with Elena and Damon. She started to realize some of the memories that she had with him, but was it really worth all the trouble to get them back? After Damon tried to make Elena his again by taking her to where the two last said that they loved each other, he then decided to do the whole “I love you enough to let you go” routine on her. Big surprise there.
Meanwhile, the quest for Caroline and Stefan to patch things up is still hitting some snags, but they at least talked about their feelings for each other … one-sided as they may be. Stefan isn’t admitting to loving her, and Caroline is putting herself into a position where she does not want to be hurt again.
Through this episode, we learned a little more about Jo’s family, her history with Alaric, and that some of Whitmore’s fellow students are becoming not-so-pleased with Elena. Given all of her secrets, we get that.
Speaking of fixing things, though, the big reveal at the end of the episode was one very much about Damon and his new friend Bonnie: She’s still alive! Now, he just has to figure out how to save her. Episode Grade: B.
