‘Survivor: San Juan del Sur’ episode 8 review: Jon and Jaclyn hold the cards
Last week’s “Survivor: San Juan del Sur” episode was all simmer, but no boil. Julie McGee quitting the game basically kept anything too exciting from going down.
Tonight, we were bracing for an epic showdown between Josh and Jeremy, and to a certain extent, we had that. The tricky thing was that Jeremy won immunity, so it instead became a showdown between Josh and … Baylor? She suddenly became a target, and we understand it. She doesn’t really do anything, and she complains a lot. The editing ultimately is pretty strange; the show wants us seemingly to like Baylor more than we do. We wish that we were getting more of Natalie instead.
Somehow, guys farting and having gas suddenly became a factor in the decision. Jaclyn feels like she was disrespected by some of the men, and that is a problem. Basically, Alec and Wes are playing like idiots, and Josh wasn’t much better when it came to the way that he spoke with Baylor.
We really like Josh, but we feel like he hurt his game badly from the moment he voted for her to leave the first night. Also, Wes and Alec don’t deserve to get any support courtesy of the way that they acted. We don’t exactly feel like Baylor or Missi did anything special, but the guys screwed themselves on this one.
As for some other news, Jon found an idol! We’re not sure what this means to his future in the long-term, since we’re not quite positive he will be savvy enough to know that he’s in danger. Still, it’s notable, and we’re not sure we would have sent a physical threat to Exile for the reason of them getting a clue.
So we’re still frustrated by this season, and we hope that the rest of the season is not as predictable as it looks like it will be. Grade: B-.
