‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 spoilers: Michael Cudlitz on Abraham, Rick’s future

Walking Dead -

This past episode of “The Walking Dead” was in many ways a tour de force for Michael Cudlitz, who had a real opportunity to remind everyone of just how awesome he can be when given a meaty storyline.

Unfortunately, now the question is where we are going to see this character of Abraham go from here. He now knows the truth about Eugene, and therefore, he’s lost what was in many ways his reason to be alive. He may have a crew around him to keep him harming himself, but he still has to find some sort of purpose in this world.

Hopefully, some of that will come in future discussions with Rick, given that their volatile relationship is one of the few things that could get him incredibly psyched-up.

Speaking to TV Guide, Cudlitz explained that the potential for more battles between Abraham and Rick is there, and this actually represents best the way that this character communicates:

“Abraham responds to the passion with which Rick fights and with which Rick follows his convictions … He respects that. He responds to that. He sees it as a strength. Plus: Now that [D.C. is a lie], that obstacle is removed from their relationship.”

We do feel like Abraham’s story is now one to watch, mostly because we’re going to spend the next few episodes constantly wondering whether or not he is going to be murdering Eugene by the time the season is over.

Hopefully, his real purpose will involve finding his way back to the hospital, helping Beth, and keeping the group together.
