‘Elementary’ season 3 spoilers: The latest on Natalie Dormer’s Moriarty, Rhys Ifans’ Mycroft
The third season of “Elementary” has brought Sherlock Holmes back to New York City, but for the time being, it is not looking to bring back some of its beloved supporting characters.
Make no mistake, though, that executive producer Rob Doherty would want to bring back Mycroft if he had a choice. As he tells TVLine, the real issue here is trying to secure Rhys Ifans given his busy schedule:
“We would absolutely love to bring Rhys [Ifans] back as Mycroft … It’s something we are investigating. I think it will ultimately come down to his schedule. He’s a busy guy, for good reason.”
Meanwhile, the same can be said for Natalie Dormer and her character of Irene Adler / Moriarty:
“I was amazed that we were able to get her for even the one episode she was in [last season] … So, yes, same set of circumstances. We could not love them more, and so, if we can find the right story and the time in their schedules, we would love to have them back.”
At this point, we still wonder whether or not the show is ever going to get Dormer back, given just how much she has going on now. She has the huge part in the final “Hunger Games” movies, “Game of Thrones,” and even some other movie roles that are coming up in the future. While it may only take a couple of weeks to film a guest spot, you have to hope that it is not in the middle of something else important.
