ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 spoilers: Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion, and the eventual return of 3XK

While 3XK has not even been confirmed to be alive on “Castle” season 7, he has been a suspect for some time in Rick’s kidnapping. Do we personally feel like he is the guilty party? Not really, and for a variety of different reasons … with the biggest one being all the talk that the kidnapping / two-month departure is a “new mythology,” and not a regurgitation of something we know already.

Still, that doesn’t mean that the notorious killer or his minions (paging Dr. Kelly Nieman!) are going to be going away from the ABC series forever. Speaking to E! News on this particular subject, showrunner David Amann makes something very important pretty clear:

“We plan to revisit the 3XK storyline in a significant way. We’re working on that episode right now.”

We’ll give you a second for your head to stop exploding. Ready to move on? Well, we suspect that this could be a great story for November sweeps, though we do wonder just how much you really want to utilize this story moving forward. Given that we have the new mythology, does it behoove you to just kill off this plot completely, and focus on something else? Maybe.

Personally, though, we’d almost like to see a huge 3XK storyline pop up in the final season of the show, whenever that may be. There is zero doubt that he is an important character, and he’s been a nemesis for Nathan Fillion’s character longer than anyone else. Meanwhile, Kate (Stana Katic) has Bracken, and while he is seemingly defeated, there is always the possibility that some loose ends there surface at some point.
