‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11 spoilers: Caterina Scorsone on possible Amelia, Owen romance
Could “Omelia” be a romance on “Grey’s Anatomy” at some point? That is something that we’re wondering right now, given that the relationship here works okay on paper. Both have been through a lot in their lives, and once they heal from some of that, they could be capable of finding love … with the emphasis being on “could be.”
As Caterina Scorsone teases to TVLine leading up to the big, Amelia-centric episode on Thursday night, showrunner Shonda Rhimes is being careful on how much to push the two parties. With that being forward, a romance is at least still something to consider for her as we get nearer to the end of the season, and Owen (Kevin McKidd) remains single:
“[Shonda is] trying to be really careful about not accelerating past the healing that both of them have to do. He had this huge relationship with Cristina that was really important to him. And Amelia lost Ryan and her baby, and then broke off this engagement. So she’s got a lot of wounds to heal, and is very gun-shy in the love department. She’s really protective of her heart. She’s been really badly burned in the past. So I think Shonda is just being careful not to push that too soon. But… I definitely see why that speculation has happened. They have some really interesting, mutual wounded pieces.”
The biggest thing that Amelia has to worry about for now comes more along the lines of her own sobriety. When her past is discovered by a patient Thursday night, she has to scramble to figure out how to handle the situation … especially since not even her brother Derek knew about everything she went through.
Ultimately, the best way that you can describe this episode is with this: In the world of Shonda Rhimes, nothing stays buried forever.
