‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11, episode 7 preview: What did Patrick Dempsey’s Derek do to Amelia?

At the moment, Derek seems to have a knack for doing a pretty unfortunate thing on “Grey’s Anatomy“: Hurting the feelings of almost everyone he cares about. He has been fighting for most of the season with Meredith, and there are a variety of problems going on right now at the hospital, with all of the different studies that are taking place.

Next week’s episode is entitled “Can We Start Again, Please,” and this is a question that you can certainly wonder. Based on the synopsis below, though, it seems like one of the biggest stories that Patrick Dempsey’s character has revolves around him and Amelia. Are her past issues going to come back to haunt her, and could he abandon her in the process? Take a look for some teasers:

“Secrets about Amelia’s past addictions come to light and cause problems for her at the hospital; Bailey oversees Jo’s first solo surgery; and Arizona must make an executive decision in Dr. Herman’s absence. Meanwhile, the doctors spring into action when a couple arrives at the emergency room after escaping a fire.”

The promo below already has Amelia in tears, and we feel like things are going to get so much worse far before they get better.

The Arizona story is also going to be an enormous one moving forward, given that Dr. Herman’s diagnosis leaves her with a very difficult choice. Is she going to figure out if she wants to go down this road? We don’t think that this is a story that is going to be resolved anytime soon.
