‘Supernatural’ season 10, episode 5 video: Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki on 200th episode fun
If you have been looking forward to the 200th episode of “Supernatural” for quite a long time, then Tuesday night’s “Fan Fiction” is probably your Christmas. It’s going to be funny, thought-provoking, innovative, and … musical? Well, sort of.
While you should not expect to see Sam or Dean break into song often during the episode (you already have Demon Dean for that!), one thing that does appear to be coming in this particular episode is singing from children. In the video over at Entertainment Weekly, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles further explain what is the basic premise for the hour: Sam and Dean visit a school to investigate a case, only to realize that the girls at this school are staging a production that is about their lives. They will sing about their early days, beloved characters, and so much more.
We heard a little while ago that the likes of Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard, or Jim Beaver were not going to be turning up in this episode, but it looks like the series may have found an ideal substitute already in the form of some of the girls at this school dressed up as the character. So expect a mini-Castiel, a little Bobby, and a variety of other surprising / interesting characters turning up.
Hopefully, this episode will feel like a love letter to the fans, who have been through everything with this show. Remember, it wasn’t even on The CW in its first season! IT has gone through a network change, a billion timeslot changes, ratings concerns, showrunner swaps, and a variety of other issues since it first launched. Yet, right now it may be the most-valuable franchise that the network has behind “The Flash,” “Arrow,” and possibly “The Vampire Diaries.” Who knows? None of those shows may make it anywhere close to this milestone.
