‘Arrow’ season 3, episode 5 podcast: On ‘The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak’ with Jessa

Arrow -

We have already discussed at length Wednesday night’s “Arrow” episode entitled “The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak,” and we are now here (albeit a couple of days later than usual) to discuss something else very important: Our latest podcast on the subject.

The reality here is that this is an episode that in many ways lived up to its hype, but also had a number of issues that do need to be sorted through. That is what this podcast is for! Among the issues that we had with this hour include the following:

  1. The choice to have Felicity be so much more proficient socially in the past than she was in the present.
  2. The choice to have her come across as so combative to her mom, when her mom was really just trying to be there for her, even if it was last-minute.
  3. Diggle for some reason giving his child off to a woman who he barely knew, all because Oliver was being a stick in the mud regarding a child in the Arrow-Cave.
  4. That ending! It’s partially awesome, but also completely perplexing without a logical explanation.

There were also some very good things in the episode, and we go through a whole lot of that, including the performance of Charlotte Ross, some of the individual character moments, and also how Laurel is continuing to evolve as a character.

As always, we do appreciate it when you take us on the go! Subscribe now for our podcast on iTunes if you are interested in getting some good stuff sent to you that way. You can also go back and listen to old episodes in our archive.
