‘Game of Thrones’ season 5: Natalie Dormer auditioned for another part
How about this for the latest surprise when it comes to “Game of Thrones“? Apparently, Margaery Tyrell is not the only role that actress Natalie Dormer tried out for.
Dormer appeared recently on The Jonathan Ross Show in the UK in an effort to promote the latest edition for the Hunger Games feature film franchise, and while she made this revelation, she also declined to mention which other character it was that she first tried out for:
“The story of that is, I went in to audition for another role and I’ve never told anyone what that other role and I won’t tell anyone while we’re still shooting the show …. It was serendipity that they didn’t really know what to do with Margaery Tyrell because she’s kind of a weird one in the books.
“There’s not really much about her so I had to flesh her out and to make her a three dimensional character within the show. I had watched the first season of Thrones and like you [Jonathan] I was just like ‘I’m in!'”
In the end, we feel like Margaery was the best fit for Dormer, and we cannot imagine her in another role like Danaerys, which is what we suspect the other role could’ve been based on some of the information that we do have. She gives a slyness to the role of Margaery that makes her one of the most interesting players in the books; while her ultimate endgame is not entirely clear yet, she is currently circling around Tommen, the current ruler of King’s Landing following the death of Joffrey.
