‘MasterChef Junior’ season 2, episode 2 preview: Gordon Ramsay versus syrup
Here is a spoiler alert for the title above: The syrup seems to win.
Next week, “MasterChef Junior” is going to be back with an episode that focuses on what we like to consider as two of the most important times of the day: Breakfast, and then dessert. We have a pancake challenge, which to us accomplishes very little other than making us want pancakes. Oh, and this is also that rare once-a-season opportunity to see the judges completely ruin some of their clothing when small children pour syrup all over them. Hopefully, this isn’t maple syrup we’re talking about here, since that would spike up the budget a little bit. (Plus, we’d be insanely jealous since we really want some of that for our own aforementioned pancakes.)
It won’t be all fun and games here, since eventually we are going to transition over to a bake-off, which we personally consider to be one of the most difficult challenges out there. The truth here is that when you are cooking, there are a ton of things you can correct along the way is something is under-seasoned, in need of aside, or just tastes a little off. For baking, it is a battle of precision and patience. You have to keep things relatively simple, and don’t try to deviate too much from the measurements you have in your mind. Just one little mistake can transform a cookie, for example, into a liquid-like mess that turns into a burnt chocolate-cookie sheet when you pill it out of the oven. Clearly, we are speaking here from experience.
Good luck to these young chefs Tuesday; we’re sure that they will once again make us wish we had this much talent.
We’ll have some more “MasterChef Junior” coverage next week.
