ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 7 review: Abby’s past; Fitz, Olivia talk about ‘hope’
With Jake Ballard locked away in prison, “Scandal” still found a way to not miss a beat Thursday night. We learned quite a bit about what Abby has went through, and to go along with, Huck got a big dose of reality. This was almost as important an episode for the supporting characters as it was for some of the leads.
In the end, though, what may be most memorable about this hour of TV was the opportunity to see something great set up for Fitz, Olivia, and Jake. They have a chance now to really get at the source of everything that has befallen them, and that is Command. Rowan is not a good man; as a matter of fact, he is a terrible man. His manipulation of Olivia and almost everyone else continually gets him into a position of power, but we may now be at the point where he is out of chances.
As for Abby, she managed to see her ex-husband’s political career fall apart, and she did so without making the decision to come forward about his attacks on her. In the end, this really just showed to us the power in keeping other relations. Also, Darby Stanchfield killed it in this hour.
Ultimately, this was a good episode just from the vantage point of getting some more information about Abby. Olivia and Fitz had a very memorable phone conversation, and one that we are surprised even made it past the FCC. To think, some of the steamiest moments between these two characters are probably still to come. Grade: B.
