ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 spoilers: What sort of wedding will Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion’s characters have?
For those wondering already if there is going to be an extremely glamorous, expensive wedding coming up for our two leads on “Castle,” it looks like what you’re going to see is something that is a little more last-minute for some of the characters, but also still romantic in a different way. After all, there will still be a ceremony, and with that, a really great opportunity to see romance.
Showrunner David Amann has been making the rounds lately to discuss Monday’s “Time of Our Lives,” and in a new chat this week with TV Guide, he made it pretty clear that the show is looking to differentiate this particular wedding from what the original one for Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion’s Beckett and Castle was meant to be:
“We came very close to doing the other version of the big wedding… and all the hoopla that’s associated with that, and we knew that we didn’t want to do quite the same thing … [Beckett] doesn’t necessarily know quite what has driven him to [wanting to get back to the altar so quickly], but she’s emotionally right there with him.”
From here, one of the biggest points of interest is simply going to be seeing what comes next for the two after marriage. What do their hopes and dreams become? There is a long-standing fear that after you get characters together and married, there is nothing else to look forward to. We don’t feel like this has to be the case, at least provided that you give them good stories to tell and things to still work out. There always needs to be a little spice, even if it is not something that comes in the way of friction between the characters.

First, let us all (listen writers) remember that Kate and Castle vowed that they would never let their marriage become boring and would include words to this end in their wedding vows. Next I would like to see Kate get promoted to a special crime unit as in The Closer to get more difficult (and interesting) cases. (She would be too bored if she replaced Capt. Gates.) Castle should continue pretty much as he is with perhaps some maturing. Cannot see Castle penning real literary works unless Kate left the NYPD.
