‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6, episode 6 preview: Nina Dobrev on ‘new’ Elena

Thursday night’s new episode of “The Vampire Diaries” is going to be one of the most interesting episodes of season 6 so far, and there is really one very simple reason for that: The opportunity to see what is coming up for Elena Gilbert now that she has Damon Salvatore back in her world.

In one way, you would have to consider this to be a great thing. Elena loved him, quite possibly more than anything else in her world. However, we already saw her compel all of the memories of her out of her brain, and now, all she’s left with are the remnants.

Speaking to TV Guide, Nina Dobrev does make it clear that her character’s new mental state does change things between herself and Damon, but this may be a great thing. After all, it is yet another way to refresh the show that has not been done entirely before:

“The show was so Delena-heavy and their love was such an epic love and such a big story point for so many years that it’s a strange dynamic now to have all that gone. Which is kind of what makes it interesting because it’s an Elena we’ve never seen before.”

With that being said, it feels almost obvious at this point that Elena and Damon are going to be endgame. It almost seems impossible to imagine anything else happening on the show given all of the time that we’ve spent on this journey so far.
