‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: Cruella de Vil casting confirmed
Well, so much for ABC trying to keep it a secret that Cruella de Vil was going to be coming on board “Once Upon a Time” season 4.
Mere hours after it was confirmed that actress Victoria Smurfit was confirmed to be playing an “iconic” role on the hit show, she finally led the cat (or the dalmatian?) out of the bag when she tweeted that she would in fact be coming on board the ABC series in the aforementioned role. We’re surprised that this was confirmed so soon, mostly because it seemed like they were trying to at least keep this somewhat of a secret. It’s also interesting that Smurfit, best known for “Dracula,” also included the word “iconic” in her message.
There is already at least one connection between the “101 Dalmatians” villain and the show itself, and it comes via Archie’s dog having the name Pongo, who was one of the main characters in the animated movie and live-action one that followed. Meanwhile, this casting news really was sparked by Emilie de Ravin being seen on the show’s Vancouver set with a dalmatian puppy.
We certainly expect now this show to raise the popularity of this breed again, much in the same way that the original movie did. As for our overall take on getting Cruella to be a part of the show, we’re for the most part for it. At least she is a pretty recognized villain within the canon of this show, though we don’t quite know how she could threaten someone like Emma Swan with such a different endgame.
